I've not had any problems with PSA V6s. I did 92k with a 2.7 HDi Tourer until the lease finished and I traded it on a 3.0 HDi Tourer which now has 128k trouble free on it. I also have a ES9 J4 in a Xantia which has done 130+k without trouble. The 3.0 HDi is far and away the best engine I've owned in 50+ years of driving.
I would certainly recommend one of the kits - there are 2 available from Citroen - one with the belt and pulleys and the other with all that plus the water pump and gasket. There were fixes for this issue, one by replacing only the reservoir cap and the last by replacing the whole thing. Related to the suspension, due to Citroen selling the rights for the Hydractive system a few years ago, the later C5s have some cheaply made spheres which may lose a lot of pressure faster (about 40 to 50% loss in 4 years).
