I was just checking mine today--both the front and back jacks work with my Garmin, but the front one by the cup-holders doesn't work with a 12V USB plug I have while the back seat and trunk plugs do. I suspect it has to do either with the depth and/or the shape of the plugs. I had to use a blade to get the USB plug back out in the back seat

If you don't have the tech pack, the symbol you see is actually for the BMW digital key. It's part of your comfort pack. As an alternative to the normal key, you can use NFC via your smartphone (android only) or the BMW NFC key
