The PROBLEM is being I don't think you can believe the in-built consumption figures. I recorded the best day at: 5.6l/100km = 50mpg (UK gallon) Worst day: 41.5mpg. Average over 7k miles was 6.2 = 45.5mpg. However, I routinely got 250 miles distance (GPS) out of a tank which is 54mpg - so I agree with Phill!! Or close enough.
In our survey, owners of the 950 paid an average of £232 and £369 for these respectively. Owners of the 990 paid slightly less; £187 and £356. Unlike most Japanese bikes, on pre-2009 bikes, the first (600 mile) service is a big one. Fuel consumption is not the best as 950 owners report an average of 42mpg, with a low of 30 and a best of 50.

Apr 24, 2017. Oddometer: 1,557. Location: Wellington, Ohio. Hey guys, I'm eyeballing a 2006 KTM 950 Adventure . Searched the forums and have read reviews that range from "Rock hard reliable" and "run for your life". I love the look of the bike and the off-road ability.
The new 990 Adventure is a natural progression of KTM's 950 released three years ago to bring a fresh wind into the big displacement Enduro scene. Now KTM goes one step forward in producing a My ktm has extreme fuel consumption about 10 or 11 liters per 100km, really dont know what is wrong. Main jets are 160/165 Mixture screws 2.125 out Pilot jet 45 Needle on 3rd position from top. All other is stock. The bike runs fine. Im driving like old man, no track or anything just driving around no racing Can you help me what can i do

I'm sure a good KTM mechanic that's up on the latest TSB will know how to set it up so it's more reasonable. The local mechanics here, unfortunately, aren't on that list. A related item is fuel consumption. One of the major gripes with the 950 was it's dismal fuel consumption (35 MPG isn't rare if you are having a good time). I've got 3300 miles or so on my 05 950S and I get around 33 to 36 mpg in town and 42 to 45 mpg on the freeway (I'll let you do the conversion). That means I get the low fuel light between about 140 and 190 miles. After my initial service I was getting 28 - 30 mpg. QGn9w.
